Rise Testing Continues
Rise testing ends on May 10th. Make up tests will begin May 13th and will close on May 17th. Please look for notes and/or check planners for the dates your child/children will be testing. Please talk with your children about performing their personal best on these tests. Also, make sure everyone gets plenty of sleep and eat breakfast every day! As you know, our scores are posted publically, and Fox Hills is always proud of our students and their performance.
End of Year Activities
The month of May is filled with many end of the year activities. Please remind your children that some activities are rewards for positive behavior. As a staff we want to minimize behavior concerns, and focus on excellence in testing, and enjoying the last weeks we have to spend together. We look forward to the ALC Celebration, the Band and Orchestra Concert, Kickball, Water Day, Field Day, Family/Grandparent Picnic, classroom activities and field trips. We have had a great year, and hope your child/children have had a wonderful educational experience at Fox Hills.
Teacher Appreciation
Teacher appreciation is the week of May 6-10. Please give a shout out to all the wonderful teachers at Fox Hills!!! The month of May can be very challenging to teachers, please cheer them on to the finish line! We love our Fox Hills teachers and staff. You cannot find a better group of hard working, talented, patient, and caring teachers anywhere. Show your appreciation by sending a note, small gift, or treat to your child’s teacher.
Dress Standards
We appreciate parents who oversee their children’s dress so that it is modest, clean, appropriate, and non-disruptive. Clothing that should NOT be worn to school includes the following:
- Spaghetti-strap or tank tops (sleeveless tops should have straps/shoulders least three adult fingers in width)
- Bare midriff or see-through tops
- Shirts with large or low cut armholes
- Short shorts/skirts (shorter than finger-tip length)
- Sagging or bagging pants
- Any clothing that allows underclothes to be exposed
- Clothing displaying inappropriate language, illustrations, sexually suggestive messages, or advertisements for liquor, drugs, or tobacco
- Clothing deemed to be gang-related by the Salt Lake Gang Task Force
- Low-cut shirts/blouses
Hats and gloves are only to be worn outside of the building. Open-toe footwear (especially flip-flops) is discouraged as it provides no protection for your child’s feet.
If a student is dressed inappropriately, parents will be called to bring a change of clothes.
Principal’s Notes
To my Fox Hills Community, thank you for your support and all you have done to make Fox Hills a fabulous place to be. It has been a joy to work with you and your students. I have high aspirations for all of my Fox Hills students and appreciate the teachers and parents who help students reach their highest potential. I hope you all have a fabulous time this summer enjoying time together! Keep your children reading and reviewing math facts over the summer so they retain what they have learned this year. We will see you again in the fall and I wish all the sixth graders the best in their new adventures.
