Hello everyone!
The school year off to a great start! We are so happy to welcome our kindergarten students to Upland this week. All students are busy learning new routines and the expectations. Thanks to all parents for reinforcing good school habits and supporting our teachers.
Assessments
From kindergarten through fifth grade, all students start the year with some assessments. These tests give good information about what students know and need to learn. The results give us a beginning of the year baseline so we can monitor academic progress and measure growth.
Students will take the Acadience Reading test, the Acadience Math test, and complete a math screener from our i-Ready math program. The results of these assessments will be shared with parents towards the end of September, during SEP Conferences (barring any technical glitches during administration).
Paying for School Breakfast and Lunch
Upland Terrace serves breakfast and lunch each day in the cafeteria. Breakfast costs $.90/day and lunch costs $1.50/day. If a student just wants milk, it costs $.30.
Money to pay for meals can be dropped off in the front office. Or – parents can sign up to pay online! You can set up an account for your student(s) at PayPams. To find out more, please click this link: https://www.paypams.com/

Hearing Screenings
Hearing screenings for kindergarten through third grade students and special education special classes will be held on Tuesday, September 5. Our district audiology team provides this service for our students. They will reach out to parents if they notice any issues with your child’s screening.
If you have a fourth or fifth grade student, and are interested in having their hearing screened, please let the classroom teacher know!
