Hello everyone!
Happy sunny Wednesday! Here is the latest news and information from Upland Terrace.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is once again overflowing! If your child has lost something, please know our Lost and Found is now located just inside the front doors.
Battle of the Books
For K-3rd students participating in Battle of the Books, Jr, please send reading logs to school next Monday, Dec. 11. Parent volunteers will be here during class library time all week to record your students’ progress and give them their rewards. The categories for this month are Fairy Tale/Fable and Animals/Nature. Watch for yellow reminder notice coming home this week. If you need to print a reading log you can find it on our school website under “Library Happenings>Battle of the Books Jr.”
And if you’d like to contribute prizes, please check out this Amazon wish list here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2FZM83OAQQAKH?ref_=wl_share
Any donations are appreciated! You can also contact Andrea LeBaron directly with any questions at aflebaron@graniteschools.org.
For 4th/5th grade students participating in Battle of the Books, there is a Christmas Cookie rewards party on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 3:00 pm. Students need to qualify by Friday, Dec. 15 to come. They need to read 8 Battle books and pass them off in the library with Mrs. LeBaron, who is available every day after school and Tues/Thurs mornings 9-10 for pass offs. More info is on the school website or email Mrs. LeBaron with questions.
Holiday Sing-A-Round for Parents
We are trying out a new tradition this year – a holiday Sing-A-Round performance just for parents! On Friday, December 15, parents are welcome to come and watch their students perform. Additional information will be sent home soon!
Holiday Movie
Each year before the holiday break, students get to participate in a fun activity – enjoying a holiday movie with treats in our gym. This year, movie watching will take place on Wednesday, December 20. Grades K-1-2 watching Santa Buddies at 9:20am. Students in grades 3-4-5 will be watching The Mighty Ducks starting at 1:30.
If you are interested in helping your child’s class during this activity, please be on the look-out for a Sign Up Genius link.
If you would like to opt your student out of this movie activity, please let their classroom teacher know.
Upland Musical Updates
Please see the attached December rehearsal schedule! This was sent home with your student last week as well.
Rehearsals will be held IN THE MUSIC ROOM on certain days when the orchestra is using the gym for orchestra rehearsals. Those days are noted on both calendars. If you have any questions, please contact us at uplandterracemusical@gmail.com.
A note about rehearsal attendance:
We have had several of our Castle Staff and Named Villagers miss rehearsal practice for our big numbers.
Going forward, if your student is unable to attend those rehearsals, they will likely be taken out of that number.
We need to learn choreography and it’s really difficult unless everyone is there! Please make sure to attend “Belle”, “Be Our Guest”, “Gaston”, and “Human Again” rehearsals (as well as the rest of the rehearsals!). We do our best to accommodate everyone, but really need to learn these big numbers! As always, for any rehearsal absences, please email uplandterracemusical@gmail.com.
Congratulations to our Reflections Contest winners!
A big congratulations to ALL our students who submitted an entry for this year’s PTA Reflections Contest. We will be recognizing all participants during morning announcements.
We did have some students who won at our Skyline Council level! A special congratulations to the following students who earned an Award of Excellence: Amelia Bahr in the Dance category, Clara Nielson in the 2D Art category, Chelsea Mann in the Literature category, and George Reif in the Music category.
