This is your one-stop shop for everything related to the second Mustang Roundup (Parent-Teacher Conferences) of the year. As you’re probably aware, our conferences will be done online this year via Zoom. That being said, there is a lot more than just conferencing with teachers that happens during the Mustang Roundup. These resources will help you navigate and get the most out of these important two days.

At West Lake STEM, we try, fail, and try again until we succeed. Nothing helps us along that journey more than your feedback. Please take a moment each quarter to provide your input.

With so much of our student body participating in distance learning this year and all of our student body needing to be ready to switch to distance learning if directed, this page is intended to provide answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Distance Learning at West Lake?
How do I login to the various platforms?
How can I get a Chromebook for home use?
Chromebooks can be checked out through the school library just as any library book would be. There may be some delay to this process during the first days and weeks of school as we need to juggle our inventory of Chromebooks between in-school use and at-home use based on the number of students enrolled in each.
What if I want to watch my school classes streamed live?
Beginning Monday, August 31, you should be able to join most classes through a live stream on Google Meet. The nickname or access code will be the lettes “wl” followed by the teacher’s last name as follows:

Where can I find my teacher’s email address?
All teacher email addresses can be found on our school directory.
What if I need to reset my password?
Please email Mr. Edwards at cedwards@graniteschools.org or Mr. Howe at ahowe@graniteschools.org for a password reset.
What if I see this screen on my Chromebook?
Please email Mr. Edwards at cedwards@graniteschools.org as he will need to have the district reset your device.
How will I stay informed by my teachers?
Every weekend, you will receive a single email with instructions from all of your teachers (as shown below). If you are not receiving this email, please let Mr. Howe know at ahowe@graniteschools.org.

Serving on the School Community Council
Serving on our School Community Council is a wonderful way for parents and teachers to contribute and help improve academic performance at our school. The school receives an annual dividend from the school trust lands. Our council decides how these funds will be used. The council reviews and prepares other academic plans for our students each year. All plans are reviewed for final approval by our school board. Councils also act in an advisory capacity to school and school district administrations.
Qualifications
Every public school in Utah has a School Community Council. The councils are made up of school employees who are elected by employees and parents who are elected by parents of students attending the school. Membership terms are for two years. Elections are held at the beginning of each school year.
Parent members must have a student attending the school at least one of the two years of their term of service. Employees must be employed by the school district at the school. For more information please visit www.schoollandtrust.org.
Applications are due by September 8, 2020

West Lake STEM is committed to maximizing the safety of its students and staff members while also meeting the important needs schools serve to allow our community and society to normalize. We understand that families will need to make the best decisions for themselves about how to re-engage in school, and we hope this document serves to provide specific details about how West Lake will meet the state’s requirements to begin face-to-face instruction once again.
This school year, West Lake will deliver all instruction in parallel modalities:
All classes will be recorded or live streamed for students who are not physically present in the classroom. This content can be viewed synchronously or asynchronously since all lessons will be recorded and posted to the teacher’s class website. This will allow our school to meet the student learning needs independent of what schedule we may be directed to adopt (regular, modified, or dismissal) by our local/state school board or the health department.
Based on the Planning Requirements and Recommendations for K-12 School Reopening Document produced by the Utah State Board of Education and approved by Governor Herbert, West Lake STEM has developed the following reopening plan for the fall of 2020:
