1906: Early Beginnings
- Inception: Completed in 1906, Woodstock Elementary was established as a two-story brick facility at 6015 South 1300 East, featuring six large classrooms. Although this 1906 building became a permanent fixture, the school’s origins date back to the 1880s, when the original Woodstock facility stood across the street, serving students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
- Literary Roots: The school received its name from Sir Walter Scott’s historical novel, Woodstock.
Mid to Late 20th Century: Community Anchor
- Granite School District: Located in the southeast corner of the district, Woodstock became a key elementary facility feeding into Bonneville Junior High and Cottonwood High School.
- Bicentennial Celebration: In 1976, local historian Eva Joan Northrup compiled “Woodstock Memories 1906–1976” to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial and preserve 70 years of the school’s heritage.
21st Century & Present Day: Innovation & Modern Learning
Advanced Learning Center (ALC): Woodstock hosts an ALC program for gifted and talented students in grades 1 through 5, drawing learners from across the region.
Technology & STEAM: The current facility features a 1:1 student-to-device ratio, LCD projectors, and interactive sound systems in classrooms, alongside robust STEAM activities like chess clubs, band, and orchestra.
Academic Standing: Woodstock continues to rank high academically statewide, serving over 500 students from preschool through 5th grade with strong community involvement and high parent engagement.
