Grads Complete First Semester “at” SLCC
The high school graduates at Decker Lake Youth Center completed their first college courses online through Salt Lake Community College. All of them passed and all earned A’s! Congratulations on a successful first semester at SLCC! Thanks, too, to Jacqueline, CTE and Computer teacher at Decker, who has facilitated this opportunity for them.
Cultural Celebrations
Students in Daria’s and Dave’s class at Granite Connection High learned about cultural celebrations around the world. They then decorated stockings with a symbol representing each culture.
Breakfast Served!
The teaching staff at Genesis treated the students by cooking breakfast for them on December 21st! They were flipping pancakes, heating bacon, and frying eggs in festive attire!
Weather Station at DT
David, Science and Math teacher at the Salt Lake Valley Detention Center, set up a weather station outside. It is connected to the Internet and the statistics that it gathers can be seen online. Jacqueline, teacher at Decker, has provided a display of college opportunities for students preparing to graduate or those who have already graduated. She is hoping to instill in the students a desire to continue their education post high school.
Robber Baron Trading Cards
Students in Brenda’s Social Studies classes created trading cards about the Robber Barons of the Industrial Revolution. They wrote a newspaper article about the Triangle Shirt Fire, and are currently researching ancient civilizations to present to their respective classes.
