Dear School Community,
What an incredible first week of school! Walking through the hallways and visiting classrooms over the past few days, I have been blown away by the energy, enthusiasm, and joy radiating from our students and staff. Thank you to our parents, guardians, and families for your support in making this launch so smooth—we could not do it without your partnership.
As we kick off this school year, I want to highlight a deliberate new strategy we’ve implemented to foster a more connected, accepting, and positive atmosphere across our entire campus.
Unified Specials Routine
To build a stronger sense of community between our Traditional and Spanish Dual Immersion tracks, we have redesigned how our students experience their “Specials” classes (PE, Library, STEAM Lab, Dance, and Music).
- Fully Integrated Groups: Every student in a grade level is placed into one of four balanced groups, blending students from both learning tracks into a single unified cohort for these classes.
- Consistent Rotations: Students attend their integrated Specials four times a week for 45-minute blocks.
- Building Lasting Connections: By stepping outside their primary classroom groups, students have a dedicated space each day to collaborate, make new friends, and learn alongside peers they might not otherwise interact with.
Our students adapted to their new rotation schedules with impressive ease this week. Watching them collaborate on STEAM projects and team up in PE has already shown us the power of this approach. Breakdowns of program silos start with shared experiences, and this routine ensures every child feels part of one united school community.
Important Reminders & Parent Opportunities
- Student Leadership Applications: A friendly reminder that student applications for Student Council, Safety Patrol, and PSN are due this coming Monday. Please encourage your child to submit their forms on time!
- Join the School Community Council: We are seeking three parent volunteers to serve on our School Community Council. Council members play a key role in evaluating school needs, allocating state funding, and guiding key programs that directly support student success through periodic meetings throughout the year. If you would like to serve, simply reply directly to this message with “I am interested.”
School Community Council Information for Potential Volunteers
We are looking for parents and guardians who are interested in serving on our School Community Council (SCC) for the 2026–2027 school year.
Our School Community Council brings parents, school staff, and community members together to help identify school needs, provide input on important school priorities, and help guide the use of certain school funds. Your perspective as a parent or guardian is an important part of this process.
You do not need to have previous experience serving on a community council. We welcome parents and guardians from all backgrounds who are interested in being involved and helping make [School Name] an even better place for students.
If you are interested in serving on our School Community Council, please fill out the attached Declaration of Candidacy form and return it to me no later than Wednesday, August 19th. [or insert any special instructions unique to your school]
