Secondary Transition Support 

Family Engagement Centers offer workshops to help parents & caregivers learn about the difference between elementary school, junior high school, and high school. The transition can be challenging for students and their families. Come learn more about changes to look forward to and how to support your secondary student. Family Connectors can also help you explore the opportunities available to your student in high school and beyond. 

Cottomwood Family Academy 101:

Session 1: McKinney-Vento eligibility, how to find your student’s counselor, vaccination clinics, Focus account set-up and fee waiver. Session 2: What are credits, credit recovery, CPA, Earning graduation with cap and gown ceremony, CPA makeup, Volunteer for Good, CCRP, Concurrent Enrollment, GTI, Sports and Clubs, Community Council, PTA, Check and Connect, Parent and Family Resource Guide.

Parent Cafes with Promise South Salt Lake:

In collaboration with Promise South Salt Lake and Promise Partnership Utah, the Cottonwood Family Engagement Center will be presenting Cottonwood Family Academy 101 at the Historic School School (3280 S 540 E, South Salt Lake, UT 84106) on the following dates:

• Friday, September 4th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
• Friday, October 2nd from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
• Friday, November 6th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
• Friday, February 5th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
• Friday, March 5th from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
