USU STARS! GEAR UP at Cottonwood
Welcome to USU GEAR UP at Cottonwood
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally-funded program designed to support students as they prepare for and succeed in college. The USU GEAR UP program helps students and families to see that it is possible to attend a school after high school, whether that is a 4-year college or a 2-year technical school. USU STARS! GEAR UP works in partnership and collaboration with schools, teachers, staff, and families. Services provided by USU GEAR UP include the following:
- Academic tutoring
- College campus visits
- Career exploration
- Summer camps and activities
- Financial aid planning/advising
- Workshops and programs for families
The USU GEAR UP program supports the graduating classes of 2023 and 2024. Students at Cottonwood High School are currently in 10th and 11th grades during the 2021/22 school year. These students started as 7th graders. As the students move through the grades, GEAR UP goes with them, through high school graduation, and into their first year of college.
