This is my tenth year at Elk Run Elementary School. I love teaching at Elk Run, our students are amazing. I graduated from the University of Utah with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and ESL endorsement. I went on to graduate from Grand Canyon University with my Master’s Degree in Reading Curriculum with an emphasis in Elementary Education. I have just added an Educational Technology degree onto my license, and love using technology in my classroom. My goal is to be able to establish a love of learning in each child’s outlook. When students have a voice in what they are learning they are more motivated to work hard and achieve the skills necessary to reach their goals. By learning these skills at a young age, they will be able to go further in their own education with this ability as a cornerstone.

I am a first-grade teacher, and I absolutely love working with my students. They are so fun and creative, which makes every day exciting. Outside of school, I enjoy gardening and spending time with my family. I also love to read, and I bring that passion for learning into my classroom. For me, school is not just a place to work—it’s a fun and inspiring place where both my students and I grow together.

This is my 29th year of teaching. I have taught many different grades over the years and love teaching the middle grades. I had the opportunity to begin my career at the same elementary school that I attended and was fortunate to work with some of my amazing teachers. I have a Master's degree in English as a Second Language and Instructional Technology. I believe that every day is a new day, and we all should have the chance to start over. I work hard to be positive and find the good in all situations.

My name is Mrs. Harris and I was born and raised in West Valley, Utah. I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Family and Human Studies from the University of Utah and I have been here at Elk Run Elementary ever since! This is my 8th year teaching, and I have taught 4th, 5th, and 2nd grade. One my favorite things about teaching is watching the excitement in the student’s eyes when something “clicks” for them. My aim is to help all students realize that learning can be fun and to help them find at least one thing that they are great in. When I’m not teaching I love to spend time with my husband and son, read books, craft, and just be outside. I am so excited for another amazing year here at Elk Run!

Mrs. Hauber grew up in the countryside of New York. She loved school and riding her family's horses. She is married, has 3 grown children, and a granddaughter. She went to school at Brigham Young University and received a Masters in Education from Utah State University. Mrs. Hauber is passionate about teaching children. She has been teaching at Elk Run Elementary since it was opened and has enjoyed each and every student that she has had in class. She looks forward to continuing at Elk Run and to each new student that comes into her classroom.

I was born and raised right here in Salt Lake City. I completed my teaching degree in Special Education in 1981 and started my first job that fall as a Special Education teacher at a Jr. High in Granite School District. Over my teaching career I have taught from California to New York. I returned and got another degree in Early Childhood education and have taught for Head Start, Granite preschool and then on to Kindergarten which brought me to ELK RUN where I discovered FIRST GRADE and the best team I've ever taught with! I'm here to stay! There's nothing I love more than teaching young children and seeing them find those moments when they get excited about learning!

Mrs. Teri-Mae Pierce

Hello! I’m Mrs. Pierce. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii. I am married to a wonderful guy known as Mr. Allen Pierce. My husband and I just adopted a rescue dog from UAAF. His name is Winston. I graduated with BA degree in Elementary Education and a minor in French from Southern Utah University. I obtained two endorsements in ESL and Educational Technology. In 2004 I earned my Master’s degree in Educational Counseling from University of Phoenix. This is my 26th year in teaching. I have taught in grades 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and ESL over the span of my career. Touching the lives of students and watching them grow and learn is a rewarding feeling. Each day is a new day in my class where students can start fresh to keep pushing forward in reaching their dreams.

I have been at Elk Run for four years. I have been teaching almost 40 years! Outside of Utah, I have taught in New York City and at the Pentagon in Virginia. I have also taught school in Egypt, Turkey and Japan. My favorite subject is math.
