What is GTI?
The Granite Technical Institute (GTI) gives Granite School District students access to specialized Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses and programs that may not be available at their home high school.
GTI courses provide hands-on, career-focused learning in a variety of fields. Many courses also offer opportunities to earn concurrent enrollment credit, industry certifications, and other career-ready credentials while still in high school.
Skyline students can attend GTI for a morning or afternoon block while remaining enrolled at Skyline High School.
Description of Courses
Explore GTI courses through detailed course fact sheets, including what students will learn and available opportunities.
GTI & Off-Campus Information
Find Skyline-specific information about transportation, street passes, attendance, schedules, and expectations for off-campus students.
Attending GTI from Skyline
GTI operates on a different bell schedule than Skyline High School. Students attending GTI are responsible for knowing their class times, approved release times, and transportation schedules.
Morning GTI Classes
The bus leaves Skyline at:
7:10 AM
Monday–Friday
Afternoon GTI Classes
The bus leaves Skyline at:
10:40 AM — Monday–Thursday
11:00 AM — Friday
GTI buses pick up students on the east side of Skyline at the roundabout near the football field. Please arrive on time. The bus will not wait for late students.
Important: Off-Campus Classes Take Priority
Your GTI or other off-campus class takes priority over Skyline assemblies, intervention, and alternate schedules.
If intervention conflicts with your off-campus class, work with your teacher to attend on the alternate intervention day.
If you want or need to attend an assembly, visit the Career Center before the day of the assembly so we can help arrange the necessary excusals.
Remember: GTI buses depart at their regularly scheduled times, even when Skyline has an assembly or alternate schedule.
Transportation
District transportation is available between Skyline and GTI. Students board the bus at the roundabout on the east side of Skyline near the football field.
If you miss the bus and are unable to arrange transportation to GTI, you must report to the Career Center.
Driving Yourself
Students who choose to drive themselves to an off-campus class must meet the following requirements:
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have car insurance
- Wear a seat belt
- Have a Skyline parking sticker
Off-Campus Street Passes
Students enrolled in GTI or another off-campus class must have a street pass authorizing them to leave Skyline during their scheduled off-campus class time.
Street passes are distributed through the Career Center at the beginning of the school year. Your pass will indicate your approved release time.
If you drop your off-campus class, you must return your street pass to the Career Center.
Lost your street pass? Replacement passes cost $3.00. Pay the fee at the cashier and bring your receipt to the Career Center to receive a replacement.
Attendance
Attendance expectations for GTI and other off-campus programs are the same as classes taught at Skyline. Regular attendance is important, and excessive absences may result in a student being withdrawn from an off-campus class.
If you are absent, your parent or guardian must excuse your absence with both Skyline and your off-campus program.
