RISE Testing Guidance for Granite Park Jr. High
We have reached the time of the year when final assessments are given. These end of the year assessments not only show your child’s growth over the year and their proficiency relating to state standards, but the assessment helps teachers identify areas for improvement in their teaching.
Students will take one test per subject area listed except for the 8th grade English test which will include an additional writing prompt. Each test is estimated to take 90 – 120 minutes to complete but students will have more time if needed to complete each test.
Granite Park will use the following testing schedule for the RISE:
Subject | Dates |
Science | 4/15 – 4/19 (HN starts 10th and 11th) |
ELA | 4/22 – 4/26 |
Math | 4/30 – 5/3 & 5/6 (no school on 4/29) |
8th grade writing/make-ups | 5/7 – 5/10 |
- Students will complete the RISE using on a Chromebook provided by the school. A set of headphones will be provided for those that need them.
- Teachers will be working with students to learn how to use the testing platform prior to the exam. Students will also be taking shorter, practice exams to help prepare them for the RISE.
- Each student will receive a personalized data sheet showing their progress on the RISE from previous years.
- Attendance for students during the RISE is a key factor to their success. Please make sure your student attends every day during the RISE assessment window. Each day that students attend during the RISE assessments, they will receive a raffle ticket for prizes.
To help you student do their best on this assessment, please have your students get plenty of rest the night before the assessment, eat healthy meals especially breakfast the day of the assessment and encourage your students to come to school every day.
Our goal is to assess at least 95% of our students. Attendance is vital during this time of the year. Students will receive a RISE Raffle Ticket every day they attend during the assessment window. Students can win prizes just for attending school!
