Welcome to the John F. Kennedy Jr. High Media Center!
Let’s Get Reading!
This year our library theme is “Read Around the World and Beyond!” The library will showcase books from a different continent each month. Students can check out any of the featured books for two weeks.
Our “Turning Pages Project” is happening again this year. Students will set a page goal to read for each quarter. They read, then record their information and submit it to Ms. Cossa at the end of the quarter. Students who reach their goal and submit the complete documentation will be able to create and sublimate an item of choice. Here are some examples of what students created last year.
Utah’s Online Library
Parent Letter
This is a great resource for finding quality information when doing research for any class. It includes many data bases for you to look through and even helps you with correct citation of the sources.
Technology
We are a 1:1 device school. This means each student is checked out a chromebook for the school year. They will take it with them to each class and home each night. Please help establish a routine with your student of shutting it down completely and charging it once they are finished using it for the day so it is ready to go in the morning. Please remind your student no food, drinks, or pets near their devices or library books.
“Check out” SORA!!
It’s a great new APP for reading or listening to e-books on your computer or mobile device. You’ll find it easy to navigate, borrow books, and even search for books on your reading level (Lexile). You can download the app on your smart phone or look for it in Clever on your chromebooks.
Library Book Checkouts:
Regular fiction and non-fiction books can be checked out for 2 weeks! You can even check out 3 of them at a time. Please return them before the due date to avoid any overdue fines (10¢ per day) .
