Dear Parents and Students,
It is that time of year where we need to start preparing for possible school closure situations. In those circumstances most likely we will use a virtual system (Canvas and Zoom). All students will need to have access to a computer. If you do not have one, you can check out a Chromebook from our library. In the event of a school closure please watch for text and emails early in the morning from me /district explaining whether it is a delayed start, or a distance learning day. In either case it is expected that “school” still occurs for both students and teachers.
OPEN ENROLLMENT
The Open Enrollment window is open Nov. 15 till Feb. 7 @ 3pm. The process for this is on-line. The link to Open Enrollment form: https://www.graniteschools.org/psp/open-enrollment/
Please let your friends and neighbors know as this date has changed and we would love to have more of your friends and neighbors come to our school next year. Remember that if you have an 8th grade student on an open enrollment permit, you will need to apply again for Olympus High School. We will start notifying of acceptance into Olympus Jr. on Dec. 13th.
COUNSELING CENTER:
8th Grade parents, please sign up for a College and Career Readiness Plan meeting with your student’s counselor. CCRP meetings begin next week and go through November. Last week, counselors were in the CCA classes to go over general high school graduation requirements, and we hope to personalize our meetings with you and your students. Before your appointment, please take a minute to read the presentation given to the students (found at this link, along with a link to make an appointment).
HOLLADAY COMFORT DRIVE:
Holiday city is holding a “Comfort Drive” to collect hat, blankets, art supplies etc. Please see attachment for more information.
PTA:
We will be having our first STUDENT PTA meeting November 19th during lunch. We would love to get your student involved with our school PTA as well as district and state education issues. Their input is important to us!
We are excited to announce the Reflection Award winners this year. See attached flyer. We are so impressed to have 40 entries this year. We handed out the awards at the talent show assembly on Tuesday. If your child wasn’t present, their award is in the office. If your child received the award of Excellence, their entry will move onto the district level.
