Dear Granite Park students and parents,
DISMISSAL ANNOUNCEMENT: In light of the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we are having a school dismissal. This means that students will not be in physical attendance at Granite Park from March 16th through May 1st. We are anticipating normally scheduled in-person classes will resume on May 4th. More information about this dismissal can be found on: https://www.graniteschools.org/blog/2020/03/01/coronavirus-information/
LEARNING TAKING PLACE AT HOME: We miss our students! As you will be at home engaging in distance and digital learning, please know that we are excited to see you again. Until then, we will providing resources and engaging learning opportunities for you to continue your education.
HOW TO ACCESS LEARNING EVENTS: Teachers will be preparing online and packet materials and have them available for use on Wednesday March 18th. If you have Internet access, you can access these online learning events starting Wednesday March 18th. These learning events and assessments will be available by logging into your Google Drive account. If you are unsure how to access your account, please follow this link for more directions. Google Classroom Instructions. Our school’s main display page will also provide useful links to teachers’ instructional pages. Main Page
CHROMEBOOK AND HARD COPY PACKET DISTRIBUTION: Accessing these online learning events and assessments require having a computer device and Internet access at home. If students do not have a device or such access, you have several options to access these materials:
-Starting Wednesday, we can issue to you a Chromebook device for your student to use. These will only work if you have Wi-Fi Internet access at home. Parents listed as guardians on our records can come to the school between 8:00 and 3:00 to check out a Chromebook. Please bring your ID with you.
*UPDATE- Students will be able to check out Chromebooks without a parent.
-If your home experiences Internet availability issues (or your child would prefer to engage in distance learning through a paper packet rather than online), learning event packets (with related assessments) are available for pick up between 8 am to 3 pm at our school. Students do not need to have their parents to pick up these paper-based learning packets.
ONLINE RESOURCE: Our school district created a resource site for all families that gives general guidance on how to access Google Classroom and other digital curriculum of interest. This site will continually be updated with resources during the school dismissal. distancelearning.graniteschools.org
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH DISTRIBUTION: Starting Monday, we will provide on our campus a grab-and-go meal for any person younger than 19 twice a day. Youth and children can pick up breakfast from 8:00-9:00am at Granite Park, and pick up lunch from 11:30-1:00pm. These meals will be distributed on the 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 30th, 31st of March. As well as the entire month of April with the exception of weekends. Meals for adults will not be available for purchase. Students may only pick up one meal. To encourage appropriate social distancing, students will not be allowed on campus after picking up their grab-and-go meals. If your student lives closer to another Granite School District school (say Lincoln, Moss, Redwood, Roosevelt or Wilson Elementary), they may pick up their grab-and-go meal there. Also, students from other Granite School District schools are welcome to come to Granite Park during our meal pick up times if our location is closer than their home boundary school (such as Cottonwood High School or Wilson Elementary, for example). There will be no supervision of students during the distribution of grab-and-go meals.
FOOD PANTRY: Because of the school dismissal in effect, our food pantry will be closed for the next two weeks with an anticipated opening date of March 30th. We do however have a mobile food pantry that will be in our parking lot once a week (dates yet to be announced).
NO TRANSPORTATION: Unfortunately, we are unable to provide transportation for students or their families to access the grab-and-go meals, the mobile food pantry, or receiving the Chromebooks or packets (available on Wednesday).
