Reality Town is an interactive simulation designed to give 8th-grade students a glimpse into what life might be like as a 30-year-old. Before the simulation begins, students select a career based on their midterm GPA, helping them understand the important role education can play in shaping future opportunities.
After students submit their career choices, the Reality Town Co. sends personalized booklets for each student. Each booklet includes a career assignment, a family scenario, and a monthly pay stub based on their chosen profession.
During the simulation, students must use their monthly income to pay bills and provide for all of their family’s needs. Along the way, they develop valuable real-life skills such as budgeting, balancing a checkbook, making financial decisions, and managing money responsibly.
Students are also encouraged to dress like someone in their chosen profession, making the experience even more fun and realistic!
We are incredibly grateful to our wonderful PTA volunteers, who organize Reality Town each year and generously give their time to make this valuable learning experience possible for our students.
