Social Emotional Support
Classroom Lessons
Once a month during advisory students will learn skills to help them maintain healthy lifestyles and relationships through our Everyday Speech Curriculum. Topics addressed include managing stress, overcoming negativity, and suicide prevention. Learn more about Social Emotional Learning below and view the SEL lessons given in the classroom.
Stress Management
Stress
- Generally a response to an external cause, such as a test of friendship issue
- Goes away when the situation is resolved
- Can be positive or negative.
- Example: it may inspire you to meet a deadline, or it may cause you to lose sleep.
Anxiety
- Generally is internal, meaning it is a reaction to stress.
- Usually involves a persistent feeling that doesn’t go away and interferes with your daily life
- It is constant even if there is no immediate stress

Safety Plan
Creating your own self care plan is a great way to remind you to take care of yourself. You can print the template below to help create a plan that works for you. Keep your self care plan in a visible place to revisit it often. You can create a safety plan with our counselors at school!
Outside Counseling Resources
It can be very helpful to get outside counseling in addition to meeting with the counseling team at school. If you have questions about any resources please let your school counselor know.
