Dear Olympus Junior High Families,

We have another great week ahead at Olympus Junior! Our students continue to bring such positive energy to the building, and we appreciate your support at home as we work together to make Olympus Junior a place where students feel safe, connected, challenged, and excited to come to school. It is fall, and that means football! Tonight our high school, Olympus High, is lining up against the Skyline Eagles at Olympus High at 7 PM Kickoff! We hope to see many of our Bulldogs there to cheer on our Titans in what will be an exciting football game!

We also want to thank our parents and families for your patience during our recent North parking lot construction project and for working with us through the slight inconvenience it may have caused during drop-off and pick-up. The new paint on the parking stalls went down today, and the project is now complete! We appreciate your flexibility as we continue improving our campus for students, staff, and families.

Here are a few things happening this week:

Monday, August 24

  • Ambassador Applications Available – Students interested in serving as an Olympus Junior Ambassador can pick up an application.
  • Fire Drill AM – We will conduct a regularly scheduled fire drill as part of our ongoing school safety preparations.

Tuesday, August 25

  • Primary Election during Advisory – Students will participate in the primary election for our student leadership positions.
  • Interventions Begin – Our academic intervention process will begin following voting. This time is designed to provide students with additional support and enrichment based on their individual needs.

Wednesday, August 26

  • General Election during Advisory – Students will cast their final votes for student leadership positions. We love seeing our students get involved, take risks, and develop their leadership skills!

Thursday, August 27

  • Hello Day! – We will hold two morning assemblies focused on helping students build connections, strengthen our school community, and continue developing a culture where every student feels like they belong.
  • Because of the assemblies, we will operate on a modified bell schedule throughout the day. Students will receive information at school about where they need to be and when.

Friday, August 28

  • Ambassador Applications Due

Also happening next week: Our 8th-grade students will participate in YouScience, a powerful career and aptitude discovery tool that helps students better understand their natural strengths and aptitudes. The results can help guide meaningful conversations between students, parents, and school counselors as students begin thinking about future classes, career interests, and educational pathways.

Community Council Update: Four parents declared their interest in serving on our Olympus Junior High Community Council, and we had four vacant parent seats, so all four seats are now filled, and no election is needed. We are grateful to these parents for volunteering their time and being willing to serve our school community. The Community Council plays an important role in reviewing our school improvement goals and helping decide how School LAND Trust funds are used. These funds are specifically directed toward supporting students and improving academic achievement and outcomes. Our council gives parents, educators, and school leaders an opportunity to work together to determine how those resources can have the greatest impact on our students.

It is hard to believe how quickly the school year is already moving! One of the things I have enjoyed most is watching our students become more comfortable in the building, make new friends, connect with teachers, and settle into their routines.

Thank you for trusting us with your children each day. We love having them at Olympus Junior High, and we are grateful to be part of such a wonderful community.

Have a fantastic week, Bulldogs!
