Summer Online Classes

Students! Are you interested in taking online classes this summer? There are a variety of options to get you a jump start on next year. Check out this page for information about Granite Online School. If you’d like to take a class through Granite Online, fill out the form and return it to the counseling center. (Forms can also be found in the counseling center.) Please turn it in by May 15th (though earlier is encouraged to ensure you get a spot in the class). If you have any questions, please ask your counselor.

FAQs

Why would I take a class in the summer?

To free up room in your schedule for another elective, to start earning high school credit, or keep yourself busy and active this summer!

Do I need a computer?

Digital literacy requires a computer that can run Microsoft Office (Microsoft is available to Granite Students for free). Other classes will require at least a chromebook or some way to work through Canvas modules.

When are the classes?

Classes begin June 8th and must be finished by July 17th. You can work as quickly as you like through the classes, but you won’t get credit if you don’t finish by the 17th. Fitness for Life requires 30 days of fitness tracking, so you will need to get started right away.

Is there a cost?

No, Granite Online classes are free

Can I take a high school class as a junior high student?

If you are in 6th or 7th grade, you can start taking high school classes for credit, based on room in the class. The high school class can’t count for a middle school requirement (i.e., Fitness for Life can’t count toward your middle school PE credit). Current 8th graders will be considered 9th graders, or high school students after the last day of this school year.

How many classes can I take?

The summer term is short, so unless you are very motivated, we don’t recommend taking more than one per summer.
