September 14, 2026Principal's Message

Don’t have time to read this email? Listen to the weekly Oly Jr. Principal Podcast

Hello Olympus Junior High Families,

I hope everyone has had a great week! We have a lot happening at Olympus Junior over the next few weeks, including Parent-Teacher Conferences, fall athletics, College and Career Readiness Planning meetings, and one event I am especially excited about: Connection Week and our Olympus Junior Grit 5K!

Today is also a remarkable and solemn day in our nation’s history. September 11, 2026, marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. For those of us who lived through that day, the memories remain vivid, and for our students, it is now an important part of history that happened before they were born. Today is an opportunity to remember the nearly 3,000 lives that were lost, honor the courage of first responders and ordinary citizens who helped others, and reflect on the remarkable unity and compassion Americans showed one another in the days that followed. We remember.

 CONNECTION WEEK IS COMING!

September 28–October 1

Connection Week is designed to help strengthen relationships, school spirit, and that important sense of belonging we want every student to feel at Olympus Junior. We feel this aligns well with Red Ribbon Week, which is when we help students form stronger connections to help them avoid drugs, alcohol, and nicotine products. Students will participate in Advisory activities throughout the week, along with a few fun dress-up days.

Monday, September 28 — Camouflage Day (hats permitted this week only)

  • Connection Week activities during Advisory
  • Wear camouflage
  • Girls Soccer vs. Churchill — 3:00 p.m.
  • Boys Soccer @ Churchill — 3:00 p.m.

Tuesday, September 29 — Comfy Clothes Day (hats permitted this week only)

  • Connection Week activities during Advisory
  • Wear comfy clothes — sweats, pajama pants, etc.

Wednesday, September 30 — Western Day (hats permitted this week only)

  • Connection Week activities during Advisory
  • Wear cowboy clothing, hats, boots, etc.
  • Picture Retakes — 7:30–10:30 a.m. in the auditorium
  • Girls Soccer @ Evergreen — 3:00 p.m.
  • Boys Soccer vs. Evergreen — 3:00 p.m.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1 — THE OLYMPUS JUNIOR GRIT RUN!

We will finish Connection Week with our Grit Run, followed by a school BBQ!

  • We will follow a Friday bell schedule
  • Students will report to Advisory at 12:30 p.m.
  • Students will leave their backpacks in their Advisory classrooms
  • The Grit Run begins at 12:50 p.m.
  • School BBQ following the run
  • Students are encouraged to wear their Grit Run gear

This should be a fun opportunity for our entire school to come together, build connections, and celebrate being Bulldogs!

College and Career Readiness Planning Meetings

6th and 7th grade families, our counselors are opening appointment times for parents and students to participate in College and Career Readiness Planning (CCRP) meetings.

These meetings are a great opportunity for students and families to meet with their counselor, discuss future goals, connect with available resources, and make thoughtful decisions about classes and opportunities that can help students prepare for high school, college, careers, and beyond.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, you can find the appointment link on our counseling center website here:

College and Career Readiness Resources

Our counselors will also have appointments available during Parent-Teacher Conferences next week.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held:

Wednesday, September 16 — 4:00–7:00 p.m.
Thursday, September 17 — 4:00–7:00 p.m.

We look forward to welcoming families into the school and providing an opportunity to connect with teachers about your student’s progress. Strong partnerships between home and school make an enormous difference for students, and we appreciate the time our families take to be involved.

There will be no school on Friday, September 18, as this is the compensation day associated with Parent-Teacher Conferences.

We Are Hiring!

Olympus Junior High is currently hiring a Multilingual Learner Paraprofessional.

This is a 19–29-hour-per-week position working with students who are learning English as an additional language. This person will help students access their classes and curriculum while supporting them as they become more confident and successful members of our school community. You do not need second-language skills.

If you know someone who would be a great fit for Olympus Junior, please encourage them to apply!
