Welcome to our schools Community Council. Our purpose is to address the academic needs of students at the local level by evaluating and providing opportunities and programs for their benefit. The school community council meets the second Wednesday of every month at 2:45 PM in GHS Alumni Room. Minutes of the meetings are available on this website. All patrons of the school are invited to attend meetings, but if they would like to speak they need to be put on the agenda one week in advance. Please call 385-646-5320 for further information. Council Members
Council Members are chosen by election and are a mixture of school staff and community members. Candidacy and election procedures begin before each school year.
Invitation to serve on the council: We warmly invite parents to serve on our school's community council. Information about council vacancies, declarations of candidacy forms, and elections are emailed sent out in August of each year.

Serving on the Community Council allows parents to directly influence the way LAND Trust funds are used during the school year, which can include programs, materials, and other education-based solutions.

- Funds used for: We will hire two instructional coaches to support teacher instruction of ELA, math, and science. ($230,000) We will hire a testing coordinator to facilitate the testing for each indicator ($40,000) We will hire paraprofessionals working under the direction of a licensed teacher to track student academic progress on ELA, math, and science standards. ($60,000) We will attend a conference including Solution Tree and College Prep professional development to assist teachers in their instructional effectiveness. ($25,000) We will provide a summer-school and credit-recovery program for students who are working to earn credits toward graduation ahead of schedule or for students who have lost credit due to failing classes ($75,000) We will provide a GED Program on the Granger campus to support students who are not on track for a standard 24 or 27-credit diploma ($50,000) We will purchase reading/writing software including No Red Ink, Read Theory, Capti, and Mastery Connect to support the ELA instruction. ($15,000)

- Funds used for: We will hire an instructional coach to support teacher instruction of ELA, math, and science. ($150,000) We will hire a contract substitute teacher to maintain high levels of instruction even in the absence of a classroom teacher. ($100,000) We will hire a testing coordinator to facilitate the testing for each indicator ($40,000) We will hire paraprofessionals to track student academic progress on ELA, math, and science standards. ($80,000) We will attend a conference to assist teachers in their instructional effectiveness such as the Solutions Tree PLC and AVID conferences. ($50,000) We will purchase phone-free school technology to remove cell phones as a distraction to students from the opening bell to the closing bell ($50,000) If the Utah State Board determines that the aforementioned plan is not allowable, we will instead purchase mobile technology for classrooms to untether teachers from their interactive whiteboards. ($50,000) We will purchase reading/writing software to support the ELA instruction such as No Red Ink, Read Theory, Capti, and Mastery Connect. ($15,000)

Rules of Order and Procedure
- Our Community Council adopted these rules of order and procedure on 09/11/2024. The vote count: number approved 11; number not approved: 0; number absent 0.
- Council members will receive training to understand the responsibilities of the council. Council members receive training before preparing and taking action on School LAND Trust Plans and reports.
- All meetings are open to the public and the public is welcome to attend. (required)
- The agenda of each upcoming meeting, with draft minutes of the prior meeting, will be made available to all council members at least one week in advance, and will be posted on the school website. The agenda will include the date, time, and location of the meeting, and any proposed action items.
- Written minutes will be kept of all meetings, prepared in draft format for approval at the next scheduled meeting.
- Approved minutes will be retained for three years.
- The chair conducts the meetings (required), makes assignments and requests reports on assignments. In the absence of the chair the vice-chair shall conduct meetings.
- The council must have a quorum to vote. A quorum is a majority of council members.
- Meetings shall be conducted and action taken according to very simplified rules of parliamentary procedure as required in 53G-7-1203(10). Council actions will be taken by motions and voting with votes and motions recorded in the minutes. These rules of parliamentary procedure can be found in the district community council handbook.
- The council consists of the principal, 2 school employee(s) who is/are elected in even years, 1 school employee(s) who is/are elected in odd years, and 3 parent / guardian member(s) who is/are elected in even years, 3 parent / guardian member(s) who is/are elected in odd years. (Size of the council MUST BE ADOPTED BY VOTE OF THE COUNCIL and consistent with 53G-7-1202. Elections are required to be staggered with half of the council elected each year.)
- In order to ensure that a quorum can be present, the following process shall be in place to remove and replace a member, as needed: If a member misses three consecutive meetings, the Council will remove the member. The remainder of the removed member\'s term will be filled by a replacement member appointed by the principal.
