Ms. Alejo graduated with a BS from Brigham Young University and earned a MS while teaching in Las Vegas from Nova Southeastern University. She loves sharing her love of the Spanish language, culture and people. Ms. Alejo is excited to be at Granger. Go Lancers!

Mr. Castro, a Chilean Citizen, taught at Granite high for multiple years and was also a teacher and principal in Chile. He has now been a part of the faculty at Granger since 2006. He received his Bachelor Degree at La Universidad de Santiago de Chile in 1972 and received his Masters degree at Lesley University in 2010. Mr. Castro was teaching math in the Special Ed. Department and is now teaching Spanish full time this new school year here at Granger. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family doing different outdoor activities. These include fly fishing, camping and photography.

Mr. Eden has taught at Granger high since 2012. He is the Latinos in Action teacher and loves what he does. His favorite part about teaching is helping students find their path and feel successful. He has taught long enough that some of his students are graduating from college. He has 3 beautiful daughters and an amazing and supportive wife. He recently received his masters of science degree in Educational Leadership and will pursue a principal position. He loves soccer, reading, and sharing his talents with others.

Mrs. Fukuda started working at Granger High School in the 2015-2016 School Year. She Graduated from BYU with a BA in Japanese with minors in teaching English as a second language and Global and Business Literacy. She has been studying Japanese since her freshman year in high school back in 2000. She has lived in Japan for over a year and half and has traveled all over the country. In her free time she loves to play ukulele, consume Japanese media, spend time with friends, family, and her three cats. She also loves learning about different cultures and languages.

Mrs. Howarth is from Mexico City and moved to Utah in 2011 to continue her education. She met her husband in Salt Lake City, and in 2015 got married in Orlando, Florida. Her husband is very supportive and motivates her to follow her dreams. She is been happily married for five years, and has a little boy. She loves to read, write, arts, and during her free time. Mrs. Howarth likes to spend time with her family and doing photography. She earned a bachelor's degree in Educational Psychology at the Universidad Pedagogica Nacional in Mexico City and graduated with a master in Education, Culture, and Society at the University of Utah. Mrs. Howarth also has the TESOL certification from BYUI and her certification in Digital Photography from the University of Utah. She has taught Spanish I, II, III, IV, IB II, and Spanish for Native Speakers II. She's passionate about education and learning about other cultures. Mrs. Howarth is a teacher because she wants to make a difference in YOUR LIVES. She knows that education is the most powerful tool that any human can access. She believes that bilingualism can help people to gain new skills, and it opens opportunities too. Mrs. Howarth genuinely care about each of you want to part of your success and learning. Mr. Hughes came to Granger High in 2014. He earned his B.A. at the University of Utah in 1988. He began teaching at Jefferson Jr. High in 1990. He taught many subjects there, mostly Geography, until 2011. Along the way, he earned his M.Ed. from Lesley University in 2007. He was the School Technology Specialist at Hunter High from 2011-2014. He and his wonderful wife have three awesome sons, two fabulous daughters-in-law, two beautiful granddaughters, and one handsome grandson. Mr. Hughes loves sports, especially basketball, although injuries and gravity have slowed him down in recent years. He enjoys his moonlight job as an usher at concerts and Utah Jazz games where he has rubbed shoulders with some amazing people. He attended and worked at other nearby schools, but now it’s all about GHS! Go Lancers!

El Profe Kendall has taught at Granger since 2019. He was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Spanish from the University of Utah. He enjoys learning and providing learning opportunities for others. His wife (a Science teacher) and him have a blended family of seven children ranging in age from the eldest daughter, age 28, to their little sixth grader son. Hands-on learning discoveries, varied learning experiences, using technology in the learning process, developing personal responsibility and a love of learning are the focus of El Profe’s classroom. It is his goal to develop independent learners who have a love for learning.

Ms. Merrill has been a teacher for 31 years, 28 years at West Lake Jr. High and 3 year at Granger. At West Lake, she taught FACS and French, mostly a combination of the two because she loves both subjects. In 2016, she finally graduated from middle school and is excited to be at Granger High teaching French 1, Adult Roles and Responsibilities and Human Development. Ms. Merrill received a BS from BYU a very long time ago and a Masters of Education from Harvard which she received in 1999. When she isn’t teaching, she is spending time with family, swimming, biking or reading a good book. She also loves to travel both overseas and road trips in the USA. She would love to see the entire world, but somehow always seems to end up in France.
