Practice Tests

  • 7 online practice tests at the bottom of the webpage for extra study opportunities
  • Shmoop: The state has purchased access to Shmoop’s ACT test prep for all high school students in Utah.  This includes review materials and practice tests for all sections.   Teachers can find the review materials by logging into their Shmoop teacher account and going to the ACT Test Prep tools, or the ACT Crash Course (where teachers make their own assignments for their students) tools.  Teachers can pull questions to use for bell work (great idea!), or find other ways to embed relevant topics into the work they are doing in class.  However teachers choose to use this resource,  it is available, it is free for Utah students and teachers, and it aligns with what is assessed on the ACT.  According to an analysis completed by Shmoop, the ACT scores predicted on the practice tests are consistently reliable with the obtained ACT scores.  For questions with Shmoop access, please reach out to Stephanie Weiss, the west coast accounts manager at stephanie.weiss@shmoop.com.
  • ACT Academy is a free resource available to teachers and students.  There are some great review materials and practice items available in ACT Academy that could be embedded into rigorous core instruction.  Find out more information about ACT Academy

Other Resources

  • From the University of Utah: We are coming to the tail end of our free ACT resources. Our program has been highly successful at serving high school aged students who were looking to participate in an ACT test prep course, so much so that our department awarded us additional funding to open a new ACT prep course during the Spring 2021 semester.  We are close to hitting our enrollment numbers and have room for 40 additional students. Here is a link where parents/students can learn more about the courses available, as well as complete the enrollment application.
