Oakwood’s gymnasium was transformed into an elegant dining room featuring colored tablecloths, centerpieces, and harvest décor. Our custodial staff, headed by Mr. Beck, set up 40 tables and 250 chairs in anticipation of the annual event.
Over 350 grandparents came to eat lunch with their grandchildren during the two-day event. All visitors were greeted at the front door and guided to students classrooms. Volunteers stationed in hallways offered assistance in locating children so everyone could connect and enjoy lunch together. Students’ faces lit up with excitement as grandparents were spotted and escorted into the gym. Grandparents expressed pleasure at having an opportunity to spend quality time with grandkids as long-lasting memories were created. Photo opportunities were available to document the exciting day.
Natalie Peterson, chairperson for the activity, planned, organized, and arranged every detail along with her support team of PTA volunteers. Her dedicated team made sure everyone involved had a great time. A huge “thank you” is extended to Natalie and our wonderful PTA moms for providing such a memorable and successful activity!
