Hello! I am Ms. Bay. I am originally from Utah County. I attended the University of Utah where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I have two children. My son is 9 years old and my daughter is 6 years old. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. You can find us outside swimming, paddle boarding, hiking, and playing pickle ball. We also enjoy staying inside working on jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, or reading. I love being active and working out. I have really enjoyed my years at Oakwood and I feel very fortunate to work in such a great community.

I have been teaching in Granite School District for 25 years and have had the opportunity to teach students in kindergarten through second grade. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for Questar Natural Gas Corporation for 13 years, where I resolved escalated customer concerns with the Public Service Commission. While I enjoyed my work, I felt called to a career focused on children and learning. Teaching runs in my family—my great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother were all teachers—and I am proud to continue that tradition.

I live in Murray with my daughter, Ondrea, along with our dog, Carl, and cat, Marie. Outside of school, I enjoy staying active by walking, lifting weights in my home gym, biking, and attending Zumba classes. I am passionate about animals and love traveling to observe wildlife in nature and visit zoos. I also enjoy reading about animal rescue and conservation, gardening, playing the piano, and following University of Utah gymnastics as a season ticket holder.

I am involved in a women’s political club in Salt Lake and enjoy supporting local community initiatives and campaigns. I also love baking gluten-free, FODMAP-friendly, and non-dairy treats, creating many of my meals and snacks from scratch.

My favorite thing about Oakwood is the people. The wonderful families, students, and coworkers make Oakwood a welcoming and supportive place to learn and work.

I am a Kindergarten teacher and love helping our youngest learners begin their educational journey. Kindergarten is such a special year because students learn and grow so much in a short amount of time. I am continually amazed by their curiosity, honesty, and determination, and I feel proud of all they accomplish each year.

My husband, Thad, and I have two daughters, Lila and Cecilia, who also attend Oakwood. We feel very fortunate to be part of such a wonderful school community close to home. Before becoming a Kindergarten teacher, I worked as a Kindergarten paraeducator, substituted in preschool classrooms, and taught summer camps for school-age children.

Outside of school, I enjoy staying active through running, hiking, yoga, golf, dance, and swimming with my kids. Our family also loves bowling, exploring new places, and creating fun memories together. During school breaks and summer, my daughters and I enjoy going on adventures and discovering new experiences. We also share our home with our cat, Buttons, and our dog, Mae.

My favorite thing about Oakwood is the incredible community. The families, students, and staff create such a positive and supportive environment where everyone looks out for one another. I also appreciate how dedicated our teachers are and how hard they work to help every student learn, grow, and succeed.
