We congratulate Sarah Waddoups for winning the 2014 Granite Education Foundation Excel Award. Ms. Waddoups was honored for her record of improving student achievement, using innovative instructional strategies, and making a notable difference in the lives of students.
We acknowledged this great achievement by hosting a surprise assembly where Ms. Waddoups was recognized by family, friends, and Dr. Bates-the Superintendent of Granite Schools.
An iMovie was created by Mrs. Dimick, in which many of Ms. Waddoups students expressed their love and appreciation for their teacher. Mr. Crandall created a slide show presentation of photos submitted by family, allowing us to see Ms. Waddoups participating in outside-of-school activities. The students loved striking a pose on brightly colored butcher paper, in which their silhouettes were traced. These life-size models were hung around the room and each one included a hand-written comment on why they enjoyed their teacher.
To top off the event, Mrs. Lunt, a very talented and creative parent, volunteered to prepare a lovely array of tasty delights in the faculty room so everyone could celebrate during lunch. Teachers were extremely impressed with how beautifully and artistically the food was presented. They were especially pleased at how wonderful everything tasted as well.
It was a fabulous celebration for a well-deserving teacher. Congratulations Ms. Waddoups!
