Suspended stars sparkled from Oakwood Elementary’s draped ceiling, creating a perfect setting for “A Starry Night” art exhibition. Months of preparation culminated in a school-wide gallery stroll, class art projects, interactive art activities, and individual make and takes.
Parents, students, and guests were treated to a visual explosion of color, creativity, and excitement as they roamed the halls viewing original student artwork in various mediums. Each class developed a collaborative piece of art centered on the theme “A Starry Night.” It was amazing to see the creativity and professionalism in the variety of projects on display.
Art-goers had an opportunity to add personal elements to a wall hung mural, write wishes and attach them to a hanging wall, enjoy creative face painting, sit for a personal caricature, enjoy dinner, and purchase original art.
The festive evening was enjoyed by all, including our special guests, Mayor Dahle, Representative Carol Spackman Moss, Artworks For Kids directors, and Beverly Taylor Sorenson art representatives.
The evening was the brainstorm and vision of Kimi Tanner, chair of the Oakwood Art Student Support Club. Kimi’s attention to detail and extensive planning culminated in a well-attended, extremely enjoyable evening celebrating student art.
A huge thank you is extended to our many talented parents who were willing to support our students and donate so many hours to make this art night such a memorable one.
