Helen Hurd was honored a few weeks ago at a reception held by Granite School District and Granite Education Foundation for having achieved National Board Certification in education. National Board Certification is a national assessment program designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers. The program is challenging, rigorous, and exceeds the requirements necessary for a Master’s Degree.
Only 24 National Board Certified Teachers practice in Granite District placing Helen among a very elite group. While state teacher credential programs set the basic requirements to teach in each state, National Board Certified Teachers demonstrate advanced teaching knowledge, skills, and practices and are qualified to teach in any state.
Helen voluntarily took huge steps to develop and demonstrate advanced skills and practices required of outstanding educators. We are so fortunate to have her teaching with us at Oakwood.
