COVID Updates as of July 14, 2021
Granite School District is grateful for the help, supports and protocols that allowed our schools to offer in-person instruction this last school year. Granite School District was on the forefront in the entire nation of piloting protocols to help keep our students and staff safe. The Board of Education and District will continue to work closely with our local county and state departments of health to provide the safest environment possible for our students and staff. We anticipate that many of the protocols used last year will continue to help us keep safe during the upcoming year. We will continue to adhere to their expertise and guidance when it comes to COVID related decision making. The latest COVID school manual is linked below. We expect some minor changes to be made, and those will be shared as soon as they are available. However, we do fully anticipate that rapid testing and other protocols around contact tracing will still be in place, as well as other procedures intended to help prevent the spread of COVID.
Attached is some additional COVID Vaccine information from Salt Lake County.
As a reminder, we anticipate a full five-day traditional schedule. We do not anticipate that masks will be required. During the legislature’s special session in May, HB1007 was passed which prohibits schools and districts from requiring students to wear masks in schools or on school property. We are allowed to encourage and recommend masks, but it would be illegal for us to require masks.
