Message from Principal Bailey
Hello Oakwood Family and Happy Holidays!
I count my blessings each day for the opportunity to serve this amazing community.
Thank you for choosing Oakwood Elementary as your child’s school.
I love to celebrate this holiday season. Oakwood Elementary School has a lasting
tradition of holding a Sing A Long event for parents each year. Each grade prepares a
holiday musical number that they then share to the Oakwood Family. Parents are invited
to attend this event on Friday, December 15th starting at 9:30am. A tentative schedule
of when each grade will sing will be sent out on Class Dojo prior to the event. Parking
for the event will follow the same procedures as the Fall Costume Parade.
If you can believe it, Kindergarten registration for the 2024-25 school year is now open.
All students who will be age 5 by September 1, 2024, are eligible to register. Knowing
the number of our incoming kindergarten students is SO IMPORTANT in keeping all our
amazing teachers at Oakwood. The State provides us with a certain number of teachers
based on our student enrollment count. For us to reach our goal of keeping class sizes
as small as possible, we need as accurate of a student count for next year by March 1st.
Our students and parents are the school’s best promoters. We invite all families to share
their positive experiences of Oakwood with friends and neighbors. We invite all families
with a future kindergarten student to enroll today in the school’s main office.
As we close out another year and prepare for 2024, I am reminded of a line from one of
my all-time favorite movies, It’s a Wonderful Life, when Clarence the angel reminds
George Bailey that, “no (one) is a failure who has friends.” I am grateful for the
relationships that I have made and continue to make with the Oakwood community. I
hope we each may take some time this holiday season to serve another and help them
know they have a friend.
In my home we celebrate Christmas, and so personally from my family to your family, I
wish you a Merry Christmas. In addition to other celebrations or commemorations over
the next few weeks, I wish everyone happy holidays and a happy new year!
I love our Owls!
Mr. Bailey
