This scholarship award is given to a graduating senior who has excelled in musical performance at Olympus High School. Mr. Ormon Weight passed away at the age of 99. He had a great love for music and taught both primary and secondary levels. He organized the Granite Youth Symphony in 1957 and served for many years as the Granite District music supervisor. Additionally he helped raise several million dollars of funding for music in Utah’s public schools. Mr. Weight has inspired many students and members of our community through music and received the “Utah Outstanding Music Educator Award.” This scholarship in his honor, is offered to a senior student wanting to pursue musical studies at the collegiate level.
