We bid farewell to Principal LeRoy and wish him success as he has taken a new position at Olympus Jr. High School.
Now, as we enter the 2019-2020 school year – we welcome Churchill’s new principal, Trent Hendricks.
A message from Principal Hendricks:
Dear Churchill Junior High Patrons,
I wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself as the new principal of Churchill Junior High. I could not be more honored, humbled and excited about the opportunity to work in this great school and with this outstanding community. I have the distinct honor of returning to Churchill after having served here as an assistant principal from 2014-2016.
I am passionate about the success of the students, faculty and community of Churchill Junior High. I believe I have one of the best jobs in the world, and I take it seriously. I love working in a junior high because it is one of the most transformative times of our lives. The chance to work with kids while they experience such growth is amazing. I also love this job because of the fun, I get to have with the students- greeting them every morning, shooting hoops with them at lunch, and cheering on their academic successes.
I have experience at the elementary, secondary, and district level working with students from all backgrounds. I understand that each student is an individual. I care about your students and their success. My primary goals as a principal are to do the following:
-
Provide a safe learning environment for each student.
This is always my time priority. Learning cannot occur without safety. Please be aware that communication is key. Should you or your child feel unsafe for any reason please contact me. Talk to your student daily about how they feel. Since junior high can often be a time when communication can diminish please make your student aware of the SafeUT website for anonymous reporting- https://safeut.med.utah.edu/.
-
Ensure student learning and growth.
Proficiency based grading is about pushing each student to their potential. Churchill will work hard this year to help your child understand where they are in their learning and how to achieve the next step in their learning goal.
-
Churchill’s legacy of high achievement.
I will work hard to ensure that the legacy of high expectations, high growth and developing leaders of tomorrow continues in my time at Churchill.
Thank you Churchill patrons for the honor of letting me be a part of your community and I promise I will work my hardest to do right by you.
Please feel free to call or email me with any needs or even just to sit down and meet.
Sincerely,
Trent Hendricks
