Churchill Families,
Happiest of holidays! We are so grateful for our great school and community. I wanted to make you aware of a few things for the month of December.
Help for Christmas: If your family needs assistance this holiday season please do not hesitate to contact your school counselor. These requests are kept anonymous.
Distance learning survey: Churchill is committed to providing robust learning. Our Distance learning committee used feedback at the beginning of this school year to improve our distance learning practices. We would like to hear from you again. Our goal is to understand the elements that help your student succeed.
Please use the link below to provide feedback to our team. The survey will close next Friday the 11th.
Open Enrollment: Churchill is a great school! We have wonderful students and families who live in the boundary, or have chosen to attend Churchill on an open enrollment permit. Please pass this information to friends and/or family who reside outside our boundaries and would like to attend Churchill for the 2021/22 school year.
Open Enrollment began Tuesday, December 1. If you would like your student to attend a school other than their boundary school, you must complete an application before Friday, February 19, 2021. Applications are available in the Churchill office as well as on our school website. A new open enrollment form should be completed each time your student changes schools, so If you have an 8th grade student attending Churchill on an open enrollment permit and they want to continue to Skyline but you reside outside of the Skyline boundaries, you will need to complete an open enrollment request AT Skyline. If your student is currently attending a school outside of Granite School District, please include a copy of your student’s immunizations, birth certificate, and last progress report or report card. If you complete the application online, please send these documents to the school via US Mail, email to ccbrimley@graniteschools.org, or fax to 385-646-5147 within one week of submitting your online application.
Distance Learning or Face to Face Learning Requests: Our teachers work hard to help every student both online and face to face. Teachers will have the most success if they know the option you have selected for your student. If you are making a learning option change, please email thendricks@graniteschools.org or wcpeterson@graniteschools.org to receive documentation requesting this change. This form will need to be completed and returned before a learning option change can take place. This allows teachers to plan accordingly. For this same reason, we only permit one change per quarter. Forms only need to be requested if a change is being made. Attendance is being taken for face to face learners. Please remember that ALL students must check IN/OUT with the attendance office if they come to school late or need to leave school early. Please take a moment to check your student’s attendance and call the counseling center to excuse any absences. It is critical that we know which students are in our building in case of emergency.
Intramurals: Intramurals are canceled until further notice.
Concerts and Dance Performances: Covid mitigation efforts have required us to be creative. Dance, Orchestra and band performances will all be recorded. No live performances will occur. Please watch in the coming weeks for links to these incredible performances.
Homework and After School Clubs: After school clubs including homework clubs are canceled until further notice.
Yearbooks: Not sure if you purchased a yearbook for 2020-2021 school year? Now is the time to check! The deadline for ordering yearbooks is DECEMBER 18. You can go to the Churchill webstore and click on the “Transactions” button at the top and it will show you what you have paid for so far. You can also email our financial secretary, Shawna Cluff @ slcluff@graniteschools.org.
Thanks to all our families. We are grateful for our students and teachers and our incredible staff who all have gone above and beyond this year to keep learning while keeping safe.
Wishing our great community the best during this holiday season.
Thanks,
Mr. Hendricks
