Volunteer for Good is Utah’s statewide initiative that engages high school students in meaningful community service. This program is designed to help students grow, lead, and thrive by making a positive impact in their communities.

What do you get for volunteering?
Your service matters! By volunteering and logging your hours, you can earn:
- CPA credit
- A certificate
- A graduation cord

Title: Earn CPA hours
1 CPA hour=1 service hour
- Students graduating in 2027 must have a CPA of a 3.0 or higher to walk at graduation.
- You can earn CPA points by volunteering if you do not have a 3.0 or higher CPA.

Volunteer For Good service hour award requirements details
Program: volunteer FOR GOOD Granite
Every student who logs 25 hours in one school year will earn a certificate.
Class of 2029 and beyond- students need 100 hours over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
Class of 2028 need 90 hours for a service cord over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
Class of 2027 need 65 hours for a service cord over the course of their high school career to earn the service cord for Volunteer for Good.
Those hours must be logged by May 1st of their graduating year. Service hours must be logged the year you do them.
What Counts as Service/Volunteering?
Volunteer For Good broadly defines service as anything that you do that gives back to the community and you are NOT paid for it and done within the state of Utah.
Volunteering can be done anywhere (locally), it does not need to be done at school.

How to log your hours:
Go to Granger Serves site.
- Register for the Opportunity:
- Browse the available opportunities and find the one you’d like to participate in.
- Click on the opportunity and Click “Sign Up”. This will register you for the opportunity.
- Browse the available opportunities and find the one you’d like to participate in.
- Access Your Opportunities:
- Click the dropdown arrow next to your name in the upper-right corner of the page.
- From the menu, select “My Opportunities.”
- Log Your Hours:
- Find the opportunity you completed.
- Click the red “Log Time” button.
- Complete the Form:
- Enter the total number of hours volunteered.
- You do not need to worry about the start or end times.
- Write a brief paragraph reflecting on your experience.
- Save the Form:
- On the next page, upload an image or supporting document to verify your participation (if needed.)
