“Sophie Rose Barton, a vibrant and inspiring student from Olympus High School, tragically passed away in the summer of 2010 at the age of 17. A gifted singer/songwriter, Sophie was already making an impact by volunteering at Primary Children’s Hospital, where she lifted the spirits of young patients through music. Sophie’s light illuminated everything around her, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her legacy continues through Sophie’s Place, special music therapy rooms dedicated to healing children though music in hospitals nationwide. The Barton family honors scholarship recipients who exemplify Sophie’s example of giving service and the sharing of talents. May your light, like hers, continue to shine.” The recipient will be selected by Sophie’s family.
